Our Design Philosophy

Designed with purpose. Made for every dog. Styled for you.

At MoonRise, we believe dog fashion should do more than look beautiful.

It should work beautifully, too.

Every piece begins with three principles: Functionality, Inclusion, and Aesthetic.

01 — Functionality Comes First

Beautiful is better when it works.

We design for real life: rainy walks, chilly mornings, muddy paths, spontaneous adventures and everything in between.

Whenever possible, we choose materials for their natural or functional qualities — waterproof fabrics when protection from the elements matters, and natural wool materials when warmth and comfort are the priority.

But material is only one part of functionality.

We think carefully about how a piece is actually worn. It should be easy to put on, comfortable to move in, and practical enough to become part of your dog's everyday wardrobe.

And one detail is non-negotiable:

MoonRise pieces are designed to work with your dog's existing harness or collar.

Because beautiful clothing shouldn't mean changing the way you walk your dog.

02 — Inclusion Means Every Dog

There is no “standard” dog.

A dachshund, a poodle, a whippet and a French bulldog can have completely different proportions — even when their measurements look similar on paper.

That's why we don't design for an imaginary “average dog.”

We study different body shapes and proportions, paying attention to back length, chest width, neck size, leg position and overall silhouette across different breeds and body types.

Our goal is not to create endless sizes.

It's to create thoughtfully developed sizing that covers as many dogs as possible without making the collection unnecessarily complicated.

Fewer, better-considered sizes.
Less guesswork.
A better chance of finding a comfortable fit.

Because every dog deserves to feel included in good design.

03 — Aesthetic Is Personal

We don't believe your dog's style should be separate from yours.

MoonRise comes from a love of luxury fashion.

We look to human fashion for inspiration — from silhouettes and proportions to colors, textures and seasonal trends.

But we don't simply shrink human clothing down for dogs.

We translate the ideas we love in fashion into pieces that make sense for dogs.

The philosophy is simple:

Choose for your dog what you would choose for yourself.

Maybe that's a classic trench coat.

Maybe it's a cozy wool knit.

Maybe it's a beautiful neutral that works with everything in your wardrobe.

Or maybe it's a color that makes you smile.

Your dog's wardrobe can be an extension of your own taste — not a costume, but personal style.
